about
Britta has been a practitioner, student and teacher of Yoga for more than ten years. The memory of the first class still remains: Exiting the studio after one hour of bending and breathing, something felt different. The light of early May shining through the trees, a gentle wind caressing its branches. Reality suddenly looked so much more real. More alive. More fragrant.
Since then, Britta has been committed to the practice, primarily Ashtanga Yoga but experimenting and learning about the benefits of other styles as well. She’s 500hr-certified through Yoga Alliance, completing both of her trainings in the South of India. Britta regularly returns to India to study yoga asana as well as the philosophical foundations of yoga. Teachers that have strongly influenced her path include Vijaya Kumar, Swami Prabodh Chaitanya, Ty Landrum and Kaz Castillo. Besides yoga, Britta has been exploring mindfulness and movement through other means including Vipassana meditation, Tango dancing and Shaolin Kung Fu.
As a trained political scientist, Britta is interested in the potential of spiritual work for social change and believes that change must happen both ways – from the individual to the collective level and from the collective to the individual level.

“In this effort to improve human conditions, there have always been two tendencies, which seem to be contrary but which ought to complement each other so that progress may be achieved. The first advocates a collective reorganization, something which could lead to the effective unity of mankind. The other declares that all progress is made first by the individual and insists that the individual should be given the conditions in which he can progress freely. Both are equally true and necessary, and our efforts should be directed along both these lines at one. ”
